Assembly President Nasrollah Entezam moved to seek clarification from Malik and expand the plan to address political issues after Red China’s denials.
Six persons injured and three arrests reported over the weekend in the Portsmouth area. One driver sentenced to 40 days in jail and fined 300 dollars plus costs. Dorothy Waddell, 3, admitted to Portsmouth General Hospital with possible skull fracture and broken wrists after a car truck collision 4.6 miles north of Portsmouth on Route 23. John Waddell, 54, treated for bruised chest and elbow lacerations. son John Waddell, 11, suffered only bruises. Mr and Mrs Waddell transported by McKinley ambulance. A pickup driven by Robert Humble, 35, involved. Page 5, Column 1.
A severe weather strike hit the city causing the death of Janie Hoover 11, near Findlay and 12th streets, with two homes and two business buildings damaged. Lightning split a sycamore at 1101 Ath, injuring Janie with burns to her face and hand. Dr. I. F. Scott and Jim Hoover reached the girl. efforts to revive her failed. coroner ruled accidental death. The same bolt damaged Raggett Shoes at 734 Eighth Street and caused plumbing and roof damage at Richard Lauder’s home, with the storm described on Page 8.
The Chrysler Corp was authorized to set markup on new car models below the factory ceiling. Prices listed for Crown Imperial sedans and New Ports show figures around 2,800 to 5,800 dollars, with per model differences and percentages explaining the dealer markup. The plan follows the pattern of prior best selling models in the same series, keeping the same markup for dealers.
President Truman declared the United States ready to join a real settlement in Korea that ends aggression and restores peace, replying to Jacob Malik's cease fire proposal.
