Suit Charged False Arrest In Portsmouth Auto Case

Malicious arrest charges filed in common pleas court Friday afternoon against Denver Newman by Martin Gallenstein of 9519 Gallen Street Portsmouth. Gallenstein says Newman issued a $260 check to Air. Newnand on Jan 20 1938 with insufficient funds. The plaintiff alleges he was arrested in Springfield March 3 on a charge of issuing a check without funds, brought back to Portsmouth where the charge was withdrawn. Attorneys Stalph A. Stevens and McLaughlin & Staker represent the plaintiff.
