Flash Flood Destroys Property At Cherry Fork
Floodwaters from Cherry Fork Creek swept through Cherry Fork on Thursday afternoon damaging homes and a Farm Bureau building. Two feet of water flooded Charles Alexander’s downstairs rooms while six feet covered the Farm Bureau basement. Livestock and poultry losses included two cows, two horses washed from a meadow, and 60 chickens washed away with 45 saved. Crops across the area including wheat, alfalfa, and tobacco were severely damaged or destroyed. Water also rose along Little Eagle and Big Eagle Creeks near Twin Bridge Route 125.
