Boy Drowns Near Argillite After River Search

The drowning of a 28 year old man from an upper county near Argillite is reported. He had been living with families in Argillite and worked for George Hoop. A three hour river search involved fifteen to twenty men and led to the recovery of the body on the river bank. The man previously gained notoriety for a past shooting in Tierne’s watermelon patch.

Kentuck y Feud Shoots Near Bennetts Mills

In a Kentucky feud near Bennetts Mills a double shooting occurred when Elder Lewis claimed self defense after a confrontation with George Wright and Charles Chaffin. Wright was shot in the leg and subsequently treated by Dr Williams of Writhington who removed 42 bullets. No arrests yet. Lewis may surrender if warrants are issued. Wright is expected to attend trial in coming days. The incident connects to earlier town disputes and a long unsolved disappearance linked to Bennetts Mills.
