Delegates gathered for a four day session of the Faucational Conference Institute at First United Brethren. Rev Bowser reported 329 registered and over 500 attended as youths led by Paul Thompson and Helen Woods. The convention highlighted children's meetings directed by Miss Lulin Mise Fox with 45 children registered. Oak Hill Newark and Westerville vied to host next summer's gathering. Man Burned In Machine Blaze Near Sciotoville
W R Mowers, a 28 barber from Galanteune, suffered severe burns to his left hand when a car he was driving burst into flames near the Narrows on Harding avenue around 4 p m Thursday. The car burned, insurance coverage noted. He had been in Highland Bend to demonstrate the coach to two prospective buyers. Firemen arrived after the car had been destroyed. Earlier, Portsmouth firefighters were summoned to extinguish beans burning on a stove at 3824 Sixth Street in the John King home.

Special Train Taken and Veterans Set for Norfolk Convention
Seventy five members of the N and W Veterans association from this city join hundreds attending a convention in Norfolk. A special train left at 12 30 pm. five cars at Portsmouth carried Portsmouth members, with pickups along the line to Norfolk. Two Killed and a Third Hurt in Circleville Mishap
Two men died and a third was seriously injured when their car wrecked against a telephone pole on the Adelphia Pike near Circleville Ohio. Benjamin Ritt 21 and James Dean 31 were killed. Fred Martin 45, a Circleville barber, was injured. Dean’s neck was broken and a piece of wood from the car pierced Ritt’s head.
