The Detroit Steel Corp Portsmouth Division plans to raise employment to 4,000 by January 1, 1955, from 3,822, part of a 3.0+ million dollar year and a 70+ million dollar five year investment. The firm rebuilt Old Susie blast furnace, added rolling mills, furnaces, a 1,400 ton furnace Louise, blooming mill and upgraded yards.
