Greenup KY notes abound with visits from Nannie Pugh and Minnie Berry, recovering news on Miss Nannie Hurn, and wintering Hon. James Downey returning from Washington. Local doings include parties hosted by Rob Taylor, marriages of land purchases by J. Scott and J. Womack's cottage plans, plus church events, a horse race tease, and a Cream Festival at the M E Church South.
The Lombardsville area held Memorial Day ceremonies led by L N Robinson Post No 485 with a 400-strong turnout. A solemn procession to the cemetery featured Prof. Thomas' band, flowers laid on grave markers, and speeches by G F Cramer and others recalling Union’s Civil War history and the homefront sacrifices.
The Exquire hopes New Day exercises will strengthen patriotism for future generations and that, when taps sounds, he joins his G A R brothers in the afterlife. He recalls the 1860s Grand Army's aim to preserve friendships and service among late war officers and soldiers, aided by prayers and Decoration Day memories.

Albert Bradshaw is on the sick list. Miss Kate Major and Pearlie Walker are visiting relatives at Pine Grove. Vance Roberts has gone to work in the Gaylord mill at Portsmouth. A young son of William Spriggs is seriously ill with bilious fever. Miss Sallie Bennett of Morton Hill is a guest of friends on Schultz. Rev. Howard has been holding meetings at Bennetts Chapel with fifteen accessions to the church. A basket meeting will be held in the grove near Squire Taylor Hunts next Sunday. Rev. Howard and others will attend. All are by the text. Frank Warner and Miss Kate McAlister of Springville were guests of James Bryson and family last Sunday.

It urged inviting the public and press, coordinating with local committees, and sending copies to papers for publication. A lecture campaign proposed by Mrs. M A Freeman of Chicago was outlined to promote secularist ideas across several states.

Mrs Hettie McClure was born in Locust Grove Adams County on December 24 1st and lived a long life marked by vigor kindness and devotion to family. She died June 24 1890 at 4 pm after a prolonged illness surrounded by her husband children and friends in Locust Grove.
