Retirement near for Scioto County agriculture leader George Wood
Hundreds of colleagues and local officials will pay tribute to George Wood at the Scioto County Fairgrounds in a Sunday ceremony marking his retirement after a lifetime guiding farm extension work. The program includes speeches and recollections from peers, with Rev. James Misheff opening prayers and the Scioto County 4 H Club band performing. Scioto Valley Grange hosts a Youth Talent Contest Thursday at 7 pm at Grange Hall north of Lucasville, with winners advancing to state competition.

Grade School Classes Start on Monday
Grade school classes begin Monday morning at Grand Junior High School with about 100 pupils registered for six courses. Supervisor Fannin said more pupils will be accepted for three classes and urged prospective students to register with him between 8 and 11.30 am Monday at Grant. Courses offered include art from 8 to 9 am, Spanish from 9 to 10 am, and arithmetic from 10 to 1 pm. Reading, creative writing and language arts are at capacity. In New York, Maxwell D. Moulers Inc plans a Saturday open house on June 19 to showcase its new Lingrosso Volkswagen facility on Seloty Trail Herms Curve. Tony Lingrosso says the building includes a 50 by 60 foot sales area, 80 by 100 foot service area, air conditioned offices, carpeted suites, etc. The showroom offers glass frontage with cobble stone floor, a large illuminated parking area, a drive in service bay, five lifts, and a modern parts storage system. Lingrosso, who moved from Cincinnati in 1963, says the company now employs 43 and is expanding.
