Death Trap in Ice Cellar Ends Mrs. Eberhardt Life
Mrs. Margaret Eberhardt, 38, fell thirty feet into an abandoned ice cellar behind the Gilbert homestead on West Second Street. The trap door had been left open on wash days. rescue efforts failed and she died at 11 o clock. She leaves husband Henry and two children Willie and Minnie. The tragedy prompted funeral services led by Rev. Blackburn.

Obituary of George W Helfenstein at Portsmouth
George W Helfenstein died at his West Third Street home Sunday morning from kidney disease contracted in the army. He served as first lieutenant and adjutant in the 173d Ohio, was a long time deacon and superintendent at First Presbyterian, and a Bailey Post G A R member. He leaves a widow Frances Spry Helfenstein and daughter Grace. The funeral was held Tuesday at First Presbyterian with Rev. Blackburn and Rev. Tappan officiating.
