Commencement Exercises Honor Catholic High Schools
Twenty five graduates from St Marys and Holy Redeemer high schools received diplomas in a Tuesday night ceremony in the P I auditorium. Father Edwin Murphy delivered the commencement address on life and faith as essential to true education. Cyril Wiggins of Mary Redeemer earned the top scholastic honors. scholarships from St Theresa College were awarded to Dorothy Knutle and Rebecca Snyder.

Jackson Ohio July 10 Roy Ray of Chicago visited Jackson for several weeks while convalescing from severe burns suffered when hot tar splashed his hands and face while top coating a car. A gust of wind blew tar onto a newspaper and ignited, injuring him further. He is the son of Charles Ray and is cared for at Holzer hospital in Gallipolis with daily burns dressing aided by his sister Carrie Tay who accompanied him from Jackson.
