Hope Abandoned for Former Local Flier

Ralph Warnock a Portsmouth native and former pilot for Superior Oil Co. along with Lewis Parker have been missing since May 5 after departing Gander on a flight to Shannon Ireland. Rescue efforts were halted as planes conclude no chance of locating the two men.

City School Building to Be Sold Monday

Bids will be received at 1 p m Monday at Portsmouth High School for the abandoned Bond school. Wesley Ridenour, clerk of the school board, will place the building on the auction block at 1 p m in his office. The highest bid will be reviewed by the board Monday night along with Friday bids for repairs including asphalt for the Washington school yard and reroofing projects at Massie and Harding schools.
