Hostess boon to bike riders opens travel for youth
The American Youth Hostels movement expands in the United States offering low cost hostels and guided leadership for youth traveling by bike, hike or bus. About 20 983 young Americans held AYH passes in 1947 with 57 185 overnights across 28 states. Hostels provide dormitories, kitchens, and communal activities with a 16 dollar group registration and pricing covering transportation food lodging and leadership.

Name Calling Sends Chilqan To Hospital In Springfield
Police report Charles, a 52 year old Springfield merchant, admitted wounding Clyde Harris after an argument over a comic strip detective name. Lt. Martin Donnelly said Harris was wounded in the stomach and taken to Springfield City Hospital in failing condition. Combs is held for investigation. Patrolman John Stwords witnessed the incident on a downtown Springfield street.

The Newtown Choral union names Lapo as director and notes his roles with the east Ohio conference and youth events. In Cleveland on June 4 Leland P. Covert, 80, died after leaping from the Detroit Superior High Level bridge, three weeks after his wife’s death. In Ripley a man and his son, Blanchard Baird and Kenneth, were thrown from a horse and injured, taken to Hayswood hospital.
