Stevens Denies First Degree Murder Charge in Lucasville case
Earl G. Stevens, 31, of Lucasville pleads not guilty to first degree murder and is bound over to the grand jury. He waived preliminary exam and was jailed without bond. A confession via state patrol linked him to beating John Henry Walker, 45, of Frazersburg, with a claw hammer at Walker’s River Road home, after which Stevens drove away in the victim’s car. Patrols traced the car’s ownership, leading to the confession. Stevens was found driving under the influence shortly after the attack and was en route to Portsmouth when apprehended. Walker left Friday with his mother-in-law Lara Ashcraft’s car and $2000 belonging to her. Stevens then admitted the fight with Walker.
