Fishing Gear Stolen Along With Vandalism Report

Weekend sheriff deputies investigated thefts and vandalisms including fishing gear valued at SLi4. Items stolen were two rods and reels and a bail hex from a Burton on Back Street. Other incidents include windshield damage and store window glass breakage at several locations.

Youth Hurt In Jackson Area Crash

In Jackson Ohio a holiday weekend produced one injury crash under state patrol inquiry. Joseph Angel 17 of Columbus treated at Oak UH Hospital after a one car crash. Minnie Thomas 54 of Columbus cited for improper turning after her car was struck by Gary Collins 24 of Wayne. Charles Clary 19 of Columbus hit a parked car driven by Witbert Borland of Chillicothe on Route 827. Leeman Cline 54 of Beaver cited for public intoxication after a tie car crash on a township road. Thomas E Reinsmith 18 of Beaver said a rock struck his windshield on Route 124.

Union OKs Three-Year Dow Contract at Haverhill Plant

Members of Local 3.6 Oil Chemical and Atomic Workers at Dow Chemical Co in Haverhill ratified a three-year contract after a wage and fringe benefits boost totaling 28 percent. The deal, covering salary hikes from 19 to 44 cents yearly, includes improved vacations and hospitalization, with paid holidays rising from nine to a higher count.

Four Hurt In Weekend Rhodes Ave Auto Crashes

Four people were reported hurt in two weekend traffic accidents on Rhodes Avenue in New Boston. Granville Blair Jr., 18, of Wheelersburg, was treated for lacerations and released after a 5:22 a.m. collision when a car driven by Richard Pennington, 19, of Wheelersburg, struck a parked auto. Pennington told police he was attempting to insert a cartridge in his stereo when he lost control and the vehicle struck the parked car owned by Bernard Soston. Pennington was fined 25 dollars with 20 dollars suspended. In a separate crash on Rhodes Avenue a Miss Covey, 18, of Wheelersburg, and Donna Kash, 28, of Mansfield, sustained neck pains but did not require hospital care after Covey’s car struck Kash’s rear. Covey was cited for failure to stop within an assured clear distance and faced mayor’s court.

Harsha seeks extended funding for economic development act

Washington Rep. William Harsha urged passage of a bill to extend the 1965 Economic Development Act through 1971, seeking an extra 770 million dollars for grants loans and technical assistance in the next fiscal year. The act funds housing health highways water and sewer projects aiding his district. In Ohio Manchester police search for Jerry Bramley 20 for shooting patrolman William Moon after a disturbance at the station. Moon was treated and released with a neck wound. Bramley faces charges and a later deadly weapon case is noted. Also pharmacists will meet at Hueston Woods Lodge June 10-13 for the Ohio State Pharmaceutical Association annual gathering.

City Hospital reports a long list of admissions including Barry Schacter at 3973 Rosemond Road and Edwin Benner of Lucasville Route 2 among many others from Lucasville Wheelersburg New Boston South Webster and surrounding areas. Man blown through window in Northbrook blast

In Cincinnati Northbrook a man was blown through a kitchen window in an early morning explosion. William Kling, 37, was found dazed in the rear yard and taken to Cincinnati General Hospital in fair condition as firemen investigated the unusual blast.

Jing Seated To Hear Traffic Damage Case

A Common Pleas Court jury was seated today in the traffic accident case of William Abrams of Ironlon Star Route versus George J. Schuler and Jessie Schuler. The plaintiff seeks damages of 27 dollars for a June 40, 1988 collision in the 2760 block of Sciota Trail. Judge Richard Canter presides.
