Eve Next Year Fifth Horse Show Winds Up Profit Triumph
The 1954 Portsmouth charity horse show closed with profits possibly exceeding 5000 dollars. Sunshine in Vada won the five gaited stake, The Bombardier took the walking horse championship, and Radiant Charm claimed the three gaited crown. The event drew over 1000 spectators and funds benefit Portsmouth General Hospital Women's Auxiliary. Plans begin for a 1955 show opening May 29 with Memorial Day weekend events.

Cohn Claims Adams Misstated Schine Assignment Request
Roy M. Cohn testified at the Army McCarthy hearings that Adams was quite mistaken in claiming Cohn pressed for Pvt. G. David Schine to be assigned to New York. Cohn insisted he never asked for such an assignment and noted Schine’s status was discussed only infrequently during Nov. 18 to Dec. 8. He said no abuse was indicated toward Adams and that a shift of hearings to Washington was not for publicity reasons.
