Washington June 1 The draft board plans to induct most fathers by year end with only 22 of every 100 able bodied men deferred. Inductions run about 300000 monthly and may force lower medical standards or revised age limits to sustain the pace into 1944.
J Kenneth Galbraith resigns as deputy price administrator at the OPA amid a clash with Lou Maxon over control of policies and personnel. Price Administrator Prentiss Brown says changes will not alter the push to hold line on prices. The resignation prompts speculation of higher intervention from war mobilization chief James Byrnes.

The action marks the first government acknowledgment of union involvement in this area.
Three persons were injured in two traffic crashes on Monday. Jacqueline Brown, 17, was treated for two rib fractures after a car struck Otto Geiger’s house in Sciotoville. Frank Catell, 53, and Eugene Hodge, 27, both farmers from Stout, sustained injuries with lacerations.
