Auto crashes leave man dead and eight injured

In a series of mishaps nine drivers faced charges of driving while intoxicated. One man, Bert Hagen, was arrested after a collision on Eighth Street with Angus Adams. Police used force to place Copley in the city jail after he resisted arrest following a crash on Third Street.

Multiple Drunk Driving Arrests After Sunday Crashes

Police report numerous driving while intoxicated charges after crashes across the area. Suspects include Samuel Frowire 44 Wiln Innway fined 100 dollars and six month license suspension. Eugene Lutz 27 Harrison street. Willard Brooker 40 Wheelersburg route 1 and Elmer Armstrong 53 Whites Addition Lancaster. Several other motorists were arrested and arraigned, with fines and suspensions. some jailed for nonpayment. Minor vehicle damage reported at 2342 Gallia street and Seventh and John streets in subsequent collisions.

Police report vehicle collision on 11th and Hutchins streets

Police reported a car crash involving drivers from 2080 Gallia street and 1402 McConnell avenue at 11th and Hutchins streets near 74th street and Walley street. Irene Miller was among those involved.

Officer's Relative Dies in Truck Crash

Mr Harrison was thrown from a truck as it overturned and died at Hayswood hospital in Maysville at 5 15 am Sunday from a fractured skull and internal injuries. Survived by wife Alma Jordan Harrison four children and several relatives. Funeral set for 2 pm Wednesday at Tabor church with burial in Tabor cemetery under Harber Bros Tollesboro. Patrolman Swearingen investigated the accident.

Two Die in Holiday Mishaps in Huntington Sector

Memorial day outings claim two lives in Huntington. Mrs. Martha Bowen, 63, of near Ona, West Virginia, dies of internal injuries after an accident on Rush branch road while en route to a cemetery to decorate graves. Irvin Powell, 25, of Guyan dotte, killed by a Chesapeake and Ohio Railway train while crossing the Guyandotte bridge after a fishing trip.

Crown Pipe and Foundry workers retain a 10 percent wage increase set two months earlier after negotiations and a strike settlement. The agreement extends to February 28, 1938 and follows a June 1 tentative agreement.

The Associated Press reports over 380 violent deaths during a three day holiday weekend with two thirds from traffic accidents. States show Pennsylvania 29 Illinois 25 Michigan Ohio 25 New York 24 Texas 24 New Jersey 20 Maryland Massachusetts 16 Minnesota California 14 and other states reporting lower totals including Arkansas 11 Indiana Oregon Tennessee 10 and several others.

Fire guts house in Lake White group

A fire started by an overheated coal heater gutted the summer home of Wells F. Jones in Lake White Sunday at 7 p.m. The 10 room two story concrete house was destroyed while the Jones family stood outside. Two valuable diamond rings were found in the ruins Monday morning.

Waverly and Piketon fire departments responded to a fire near Clarence Vallery's summer home by the Jones property. Mr Jones estimates damage at £8,000, with partial insurance coverage.
