A Cleveland boy finds a hidden stash of gold doubloons worth about $3,000 after an old post containing the coins is split open. Blackburn, a large fence post dealer from Rarilen, had ordered posts in January and two Cleveland shop workers later lost the coins. The rare coins, valued around $620 each, were retrieved from the post and sold for $3,000.
Constable Eldridge Henderson of the West Side reports discovering a cabbage snake Friday evening while his wife was cutting cabbage. He found a small snake inside a head, broke it open, and killed the reptile, claiming relief at the timely find.
Philin C. Hunter aged 27 part owner of the Chillicothe News-Advertiser died Friday morning of lung trouble. A brilliant young man who gained national magicians recognition before ill health ended his touring. His father William H. Hunter died about a year ago. He is survived by a brother Card Hunter of East Aurora New York and his mother.
Attorney T C Beatty acting for heirs purchased about 200 acres of Nile township land from the Alexander Cole estate at public sale held by Deputy Sheriff Bissgin at the courthouse Saturday afternoon. The price was 3400 dollars, near the appraised value of 5766.66, with Harry Vaughters and Beatty alternating bids. The sale occurred under partition proceedings with Katherine Shaw as plaintiff and Kimerson Cole and others as defendants. Money saved at Lenman's Removal sale.
