Scioto Catholic groups oppose Pollock bill on free books

The executive committee of the Scioto County Federation of Catholic societies passed resolutions opposing the Pollock bill to provide free school books. Copies were to be sent to Senator G Lauman and Representative Nash J. Dever. A further meeting next Sunday will discuss more matters, with the county federation’s annual convention planned for March. Franklin Saint, son of Rank Albiter, has had fever but is slightly improved.

Mr. Clark Finally Claims His Bride in Chillicothe

Tucker Clark local traveling salesman and Miss Margaret Edinger of Chillicothe wed at the Edinger home. Illness delayed their falls four times, a typhoid fever and a later ailment. Rev. William Hindman officiated with only immediate family present. The couple will live with the Edinger family for now and then move to Scinteville Milling Company headquarters city.

Charity helper guards prison band horns in Ohio pen

In Sunday's Columbus Press Post column Heard Behind the Gratings, Thomas Charity a six year man from Adams county is brought to the deputy warden to return brass band instruments. He agrees to take charge of the band and keep instruments secured. The piece notes Charity, a former Portsmouth Negro, faced a past murder implication and has since made several toys and lapses of work, with his funeral announced later for a family member. Also mentions a pleasure trip by Mr Stravas and a sale at Lehman’s Re mayal.

Good Woman Is Claimed By Destroyer

Mrs. Warren T. Fout died at her home on Ofmnere Street Saturday evening after months of illness. She is survived by her grieving husband and several children including Minnie McDaniels, Clarence, Morley, William, and Mrs. John Murphy. Born July 30, 1848 near Ironton Ohio she lived most of her life in the county and joined the Methodist church in youth. The immediate cause was heart trouble.
