Governor Martin L. Davey appointed Charles Leasure of Muskingum County and W. T. Roberts of Bridgeport to the new Ohio employment insurance commission. A third member representing employers is to be named. Leasure will represent the public, Roberts labor, with salaries at 6000 dollars annually. Leasure serves two years, Roberts six, third member four. after two years all terms become six years.
Kentucky moves to place the unemployment compensation act for federal approval. Gov. A. B. Chandler appoints Robert E. Hatton acting director of the new division. Labor amendments were rejected in the Senate 22 to 13 and the bill passed 35 to 0. the House earlier approved the labor amendment 51 to 23 but later acted 85 to 0 to send the measure forward.
Archduke Friedrich of Hapsburg aged 60 and once the Austro Hungarian army commander in World War I died in Budapest on December 30.

Anna Ruth Fraley age 3 died from fatal burns suffered at home at 6071 Market Street. Her brother Billy 5 tried to douse the flames after kerosene was poured on an open fire. She was taken to Portsmouth General Hospital and later moved to Lynn funeral home for services. Surviving are her parents William and Lovina Fraley and four siblings. Funeral set for Saturday at 2 p.m. at Lynn Funeral Home with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery.
A holiday ball at the Selma Town and Country club ended in tragedy as a carelessly tossed match ignited dresses. Mrs. T. C. Gayle died from burns. Mrs. Clarence Agee and Mrs. James Rowell remain in critical condition. Eleven women suffered burns. a dozen men treated as they smothered the flames with coats.
