In California, Orrick and Weott communities faced major rises in Redwood Creek and the Eel River with hundreds evacuated and a five foot flood in Weott. Weather officials warned the Eel River could crest around 27 feet, echoing 1955 levels. The Humboldt County sheriff cited 400 evacuations in Pepperwood and about 300 from Myers Turn to Page 6, Column 4.
