Jackson Flier Killed in Crash Near Savannah
Second Lieutenant John P. Robbins, 23, of Jackson, attached to the 19th Bombardment Squadron, died after an Army Air Corps plane plunged into a beach near Skids Way Island, Savannah. Private Wayne Bradley was seriously injured. Robbins, a Jackson High School and Ohio University alumnus, was an Athens civilian pilot trainee before enlistment and had served on maneuvers in Louisiana. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert A. Robbins, with a brother in the Fourth repair squadron at Patterson Field, Dayton.
