Highway work advances on north side expansion
Officials outline temporary berms and a future 3 foot raised concrete strip as the north side paving proceeds. Drainage pine 12 and 1B inch lines may continue this winter with Charles Stein Construction Co. of Chillicothe as sub contractor. Slag may be added to the south half in spring to form a blanket course before final paving. First concrete poured on the south end with 240 feet on December 28 and 1,100 feet total completed by November 23. The largest single day pour was 1,264 feet on November 18.

Lloyd Harris age 16 son of Ernest Harris of Beaver Route 1 is in General Hospital for removal of a rifle bullet from his left foot. X rays indicated entry by Fowler and the boy is under the care of Tir Hubert Thorman. He was wounded accidentally while handling a rifle. Russell Doyle of Greenup suffered a crushed foot and several broken toes at the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway shops in Raceland and was moved to C and C Hospital in Huntington.

Local Hunter Wins Beagle Prize At Adams Club Event
Adams County Beagle Club held its annual mating at Coon Hills in Winchester. Robingoway of Portsmouth won a 5 month old beagle valued at $50. Event hosted by 35 members with a chicken dinner. Club president Germperling, vice president Eyler, and secretary-treasurer Skert led the proceedings. The club owns a 137-acre site and has undertaken improvements in recent years.
