Columbus, Ohio December 5 arguments before the Ohio supreme court in the cases of Isaac Fear of Butler county and L R Andrews of Lawrence county for new trials. Attorneys for the state opposed granting a new trial while plaintiffs in error contended the trials were unfair. Senator George Cetone, convicted yesterday, will wait for resolution of the other five cases. Also notes visiting Shields brothers in Mineral Springs and an advertisement for rich Oklahoma farm lands and a 36 gallon kettle listing.
Local note reports the marriage of Lilly Tiers Bisham to Miss Bartars Daum on a Wednesday in November. Many friends extend best wishes for a long and happy life together, with extensive family and community social ties shown through Thanksgiving visits and gatherings in Portsmouth and nearby towns.

Peas Pieper of Otwins and cousin Geo Bradney of Young were seen in town. Little Tazel Walker ill with pneumonial fever. Hughlin of Williamsburg visited relatives here.
Report from Rocky Fork Texas notes Mr Stansberry started a revival gathering Monday drawing a sizable audience. Nearby residents Mrs Catherine Chapman and her young son Chester are improving from illness at her parents home. Several locals from Turkey Creek attended Monday night services.
Ada Moore wife of Frank Moore of Vanceburg Kentucky died November 19 after a brief typhoid fever illness. She leaves a husband and two children William age 4 and Mary 3 months. She was a daughter of Jasper and wife from Mt Joy and leaves several siblings. Her remains were laid to rest in the cemetery near Vanceburg.
Chester Ruth of Superior guest of the Misses Mayhew on Sunday. Bee Preston visited family in Bardstown Kentucky for several days. Mrs Lell Maney moved from Oak Mills to her French Grant farm. Shoppers at Peerless included several locals and Stella Barney. A fine boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Michael Arn. AW Barke visited his mother Julit Burke. Miss Jennie Mayhew hosted Minnie Kennedy and Eiverling of Siloam for Thanksgiving. Teachers Mary and Jemtie Oakes, Jace Burke, Lucile Mayhew and Manshie Preston spent Thanksgiving at home. Mrs Gaylord Preston and son Mont Oral visited with Mr and Mrs Bes Preston. Ernest Lewson and sons of Portsmouth stayed with Ts. C. Burke during hunting season. Mrs Anne Lehman returned from Ironton after Thanksgiving with daughter Mrs Waller Kenry. Mr and Mrs T Glover and children visited Will Morris. Herman Spray visited brother Edward Spray. John Pettinger of Portsmouth stayed with daughter Mrs Ed Spray. Kelsey McCawley spent Sunday at Tayport. Pernice Macksworth of Sandy Nalley visiting his uncle Taeleworth.

Mrs. Marty Yeager was guest of Mrs. William Feurt Sunday.
A protracted meeting began at Salem on Tuesday in December. Alya Kronk of Coder Glen visited Clyde Kronk on Sunday. Ora Kronk, Kendall Crabtrea and Tobn Erwin, who have been hogging corn in the northern part of the state, returned home. Charles Smith works for his uncle Albert Smith. Arest Culp and 681 Warren of White Gravel work for Joseph Smith. Thurman Lyons, formerly with Daya Deemer, has resigned to seek other employment. he hunted for a new job on Sunday.
Glades Rev. 7 Upton of Concord Jr preached an able sermon Sunday afternoon before a large audience. Miss Tala and Miss Viveim spent Sunday with Miss Nettie denking. Theill Cillemventer and family Beaver en route to South Webster dined at F. M. Keller's. Mrs Z W Swerim and sons Henry and Toward visited Chas Pieger's. Miss Toland, teaching in New Boston, visited Thanksgiving folk. Dolmer Powell and Ella Powell of Carmel spent Sunday at John Fulton’s.

SCIOTOR reports rapid development of the Independent Telephone System with many new companies forming. Rev. Cox opened a meeting series at Old Salem on Tuesday evening. Lincoln Nebraskan native Chas Winter visits his father Fred Winter. Mr. and Mrs. George Wilson hosted George Wilson’s guests Sam O’Neal and others. Lewis Powell and Everett Wilson traded at Peckess Priday. Doiver Kinker helps Hai jah Adkins haul cross ties. James McDaniel stayed with Clark Wilson. A contract to place inner-elé bridges at various sites has been approved and the lines are restored to first class condition. Collins McDaniel is quite ill.
In Rushtown Mrs Jentas Marsh hosts a thirty fourth birthday gathering with friends and relatives from Portsmouth Sardinia and McDermott attending. Edna Medunking visited from Sedan. Mrs Clinton Shirley and daughters spent Thanksgiving with Orval Philips in Sardinia. Mrs Brown and son Russell of McDermott attended church. Miss Edna McJunkins twent ieth birthday celebrated by Mrs Johnson party guests listed.
Howard Tamner returned after a socially successful and profitable spell. He spent a week with friends, attended Henley school events led by Clinton, and Phoeba Baccus of Turkeyfoot hosted scholars’ entertainment. Yank Courtright visited friends nearby over Sunday.
Mrs J Al Appel has recovered from a sore throat and is about again. Mrs J R Hilling will entertain the Wednesday Afternoon Club on December 4. Edwin Shumpmudson of Portsmouth spent Sunday with Mr and Mrs A J Snyder. Roy Carley fell 12 feet from a Hartuian fire ladder Sunday evening, receiving bruises but no broken bones.

Mr Sarah Adams and family moved from the Jacob Essman farm to Fine Grove and plan farming. John Doll and son Victor returned home after visiting relatives in Peerless and New Boston. John Essman and family of Portsmouth called on friends nearby Sunday. Chas Maetz returned to Jackson after Thanksgiving with his parents. The Grangers oyster and ice cream social last evening was well attended.
Maria Lawra died November 29 from cancer at age 82. The remains were buried at Twin Greek. Charley Cooper and his wife returned from a visit to Portsmouth relatives. Mire Marthe Benter spent days at Selotoville with her parents. Thomas Stewart plans a business trip to Kentucky.
The Scioto area observed the twentieth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tink on Sunday December 1 with about 108 attendees. Notable guests traveled from Portsmouth Milton Shumway John Voelker William Licht Henry Winter John Winter Thomas Nichols Henry Helt Edward Yeager Hiberta Dudley Nichols Margaret Winter Mary Helt and many from Lronton Marsrisonville and vicinity including Dr and Mrs William Seitz Jank Minford Edward Samson Pauline Coburn Ada Samson and numerous others attended the event.
The city faces a continuing surge of appendicitis with 16 operations in three weeks. Herbert Haffner, 20, was operated on Wednesday night at Hempstead hospital by Drs. Robe and West and is recovering well. He works for Freshour Bros Hast End grocers and is the son of Mr and Mrs Fred Haffner of 2221 Highth street. One death has occurred, Lee Turner, who developed peritonitis before surgery.
Wheelersburg church plans a new parsonage following a quarterly conference vote to buy a lot and raise funds. Trustees hold options on two sites near the Methodist church as Rev. W A Whitmer leads the charge amid a cheerful reception for Helt family and local mourners. George Shuler of Candy shows slight improvement after illness.
Two men remained in the jury box as 18 veniremen were examined for a special grand jury to probe George B. Cox's Cincinnati Trust Co. The panel is expected to begin Monday with Attorney General Hagen aiding Prosecutor Pagne in presenting evidence of alleged excessive loans and other violations. The bank Cox once led was absorbed by another bank over a year ago. T.L. Christman and family moved from 1823 Eighth Street to 1509 Chestnut Street.
In Circleville Ohio thieves blew open the safe at the office of 3. P. Grant & Co. coal dealers but fled empty handed. In Columbus Ohio Jos M Napier was indicted by a federal grand jury under the white slave law for transporting Mary H Ressler from Lock Haven Clinton County to Cadiz Pennsylvania for immoral purposes.
Court records show Tr. T. Hatton as plaintiff Napier as defendant before Justice Shakespeare. An attachment order was issued on November 20 1912 in the shore action for the sum of 5 38 dollars.
