Plans to raise funds for Portsmouth mental hospital site
A drive to raise 12000 dollars to purchase a site for a mental receiving hospital in Portsmouth was launched Wednesday afternoon. A study committee of civic, service, fraternal and labor groups met at the Chamber of Commerce to outline the project. Harry Doery and Robert R. Leedom were named co chairmen to lead the drive which runs through December 15. The leaders and Kenneth Lehman will form a committee to set quotas for business, industry and professions and select solicitation teams to carry out the plan.

U S Ambassador to China J Leighton Stuart was struck by a stroke aboard a Baltimore and Ohio train en route to Washington and taken to Bethesda Naval Hospital in serious condition.
