Disposition of remaining charges not announced.
The Associated Press reports Rufus Jones and Willie Richardson, tied to local policy game rings, were detained by police in connection with the slaying of Frank McAuliff and the wounding of Tony Horton, who was said to be a lieutenant of Richardson. McAuliff was killed in the mistaken belief he was Richardson. Richardson is held for investigation while Jones faces arraignment on suspicion.
A public hearing in Portsmouth on a $400000 post office site concluded with officials from Washington promising a decision soon. Citizens presented offers including Mrs. George Holman at Fifteenth and Chillicothe and Forest L. Williams at Gallia and Union, while Alan N. Trenton December 1 W Warren Barbour former mayor of Rumson and wealthy thread manufacturer was appointed by Governor Morgan F Larson to fill the late Dwight W Morrow’s seat in the U S Senate. Barbour 43 a Republican and former amateur heavyweight boxing champion entered public life in Rumson in 1922.
Seven Ohio congressmen and Senator Robert J. Bulkley favor submitting a repeal of the eighteenth amendment. Mrs. Charles Sabin of the Women for Prohibition Reform released partial results showing 7 of 251 lawmakers back the measure. The listed supporters include Hess, Harlan, White, Lamneck, Fiesinger, Crosser, and Bolvin.
Grand jury begins investigation into an alleged arson plot targeting the old National Acme factory and a Reliable Trucking Co garage housing 35 trucks. A bomb was dropped on the garage roof and gasoline set fires in the factory area. Charles F. Marz cites 15 years of open shop operation and no known enemies.
Trust certificates totaling 120000 dollars at six percent interest mature in five years have been subscribed by stockholders to reorganize the Union Savings Trust. Mrs. Wilma Sinclair Levan chairs the reorganization committee and announces the plan.

Japanese army headquarters at Mukden Manchuria announced reinforcement deployments to Tsitsihar amid a dangerous situation. The garrison had been reduced to a small detachment as about 8,000 Chinese troops moved from Hallan toward Gereean Hsu-Pao-Ching, threatening the district.
The 1932 automobile license plate sale opened in Scioto County with only 38 tags issued by noon. Tags cost 15 cents to issue this year, down from 25 cents, as officials said the county will not profit. The sale runs weekdays 8 a.m. to 4 30 p.m. at the auditor's office with staff including Walter Besco, Earl Cookes, and Miss Louella Demint assisting.

In Chicago a 16 year old boy Joseph Wilson staged a deadly demonstration to show how classmate Henry Sio killed Ruth Wicklund and then himself. Wilson shot Constance Trobatos, 16, killing her at his home as she discussed the Wicklund-Sio tragedy. Police say Constance’s death was accidental.
In Batavia Ohio on December 1 three armed men forced entry to the Schaub home one mile southeast of town and tortured elderly Toney Schaub 79 and his son Charles 53 to reveal the hiding place of 862 dollars. The trio escaped with 302 dollars in cash 460 dollars in government bonds and 100 dollars in postal savings certificates.
Two men walked into two Tiffin stores and stole five vending machines valued at 400 dollars. Authorities fear a budding war between rival slot machine operators in the area. In Huntington, Columbia Gas and Electric Corp of New York bought 28 000 acres of oil and gas lands in Kentucky and West Virginia from R. R. Smith of Huntington and the Houston estate of Cincinnati.

Attorneys McLaughlin and Staker represented Miss West.

Daniel Gilday, officer of Englewood Law and Order league, held pending outcome of abdominal wound suffered by Herman Knol 17. Knol and Herman Alkema 18 offered services when Gilday fired, claiming self defense. If Knol dies, murder charge and possible death penalty. if Knol lives, assault with intent to kill and concealed weapon charges.
At a Tuesday meeting of Retail Merchants association directors in the office of Secretary Russell G. Ketter plans were approved to reuse last year’s Christmas decorations. Strands of colored lights laurel and other adornments will cover Gal-Ma and Gay street west to Chillicothe north to Chillicothe to Sixth and south to Second. The North Chillicothe Street Merchants association will place its own decorations as usual. Directors present included Rigdon Hall Royal Marting George Abrend Walter F. Gahm R. W. Anderson William Adolph Glockner and J. R. Distel.
Two robbers accosted Sheriff W. W. Williams in KINGWOOD. they bound him and drove away with the vehicle. Near Blueville he was thrown from the car, and the bandits fled with $9,500.
Edward Hines a prominent Chicago lumber merchant and philanthropist died after months of heart disease and pneumonia. Born in Buffalo July 1 1863 he built the Edward Hines Lumber Co into a large enterprise and funded major gifts including Broadview acreage and Hines Memorial Hospital for war veterans.
In San Francisco on December 1 James J. Walker urged Governor James Rolph Jr. to grant clemency to Tom Mooney, imprisoned for 15 years as the parade bomber. Walker, despite poor health, insisted he would not let a doctor cripple him and pressed for Mooney’s freedom.
Chicago December 1 B W Snow director of the Federation of American Business told the American Association of Creamery Butter Manufacturers that the upcoming congressional session poses a menace to all citizens from industry leaders to workers. He warned that Congress would pursue policy that would increase burdens and harm business prospects.
