Reds mum on report that Kaganovich is dead

The Foreign Ministry declined to comment on a New York claim that Lazar Kaganovich is dead. Isaac Don Levine, who visited Moscow, said he was shown an unmarked grave mound and learned the death occurred eight months ago. Kaganovich was linked to the antiparty group that attempted to oust Premier Khrushchev in 1957.

River Days Schedule Set by Jaycees in Portsmouth area

Jaycees have prepared a River Days schedule for Aug 3 through Labor Day weekend featuring a footenanny square dance and a street festival. Events run 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the Esplanade and First Evangelical Church with Rotary Club sponsorship and a National Outboard Association world championship boat race on Chillicothe. A downtown parade, jazz contest, carnival rides, Indian village exhibits, and religious service close the festival. Bob Burgin heads the River Days committee with Doug O Brien and others as chairmen and subchairmen.
