Clark returns to ministry at Crawfordsville Baptist Church

Former Pleasant Green Baptist pastor Reverend Clark, living with his wife in Crawfordsville, Indiana, has been chosen pastor at a salary around 900 dollars annually. His estrangement and reported escapades were publicly magnified, but he says the public accepted the reconciliation. His successor, Bishop H. W. Lowry, agreed to lead Pleasant Green with a salary above 400 dollars, and will move once his Delaware family’s plans allow.

Scholars Strike Over Coryell Suspension At Maysville High

In Maysville Kentucky April 21 pupils in Prof W C Coryell room refused to attend classes after Coryell was suspended by the school board H O Clinger was away seeking a replacement. Students gathered on street corners shouting for Coryell and denouncing board members. Earlier a dispute between Coryell and Olinger led to a fight and charges were filed. Coryell’s suspension followed. students were expelled for not returning to school.

Scioto County Man Rewarded For Heroic Fire Rescue

Ed Sullivan, cousin of Pat Whalen, of Scioto County, is to be reawarded with a Cincinnati fire department lieutenancy for a recent act of heroism. At 21 years old, he risked his life to hoist a ladder and rescue an old man and woman from an upper floor of a burning building. The ladder had to stand on a nearly straight incline, making descent extremely hazardous.

Epileptic Girl to be Returned to Visitation

Clara Moore an epileptic patient who came on a trial visit from Gallipolis hospital last November is to be returned Wednesday. She has lived at the Isaac Dames home on East Front street. Officers report her conduct has not been good and Judge Sikes ordered her to be taken into custody. She is presently a member of the feminine colony at the jail, which now houses five local youths and other inmates, bringing the jail population to twenty two after recent arrests.

JW Balklanch of Tackoon township displayed a revolver to a friend in McArthur Ohio on April 21 and accidentally discharged it, mortally wounding his aged mother who stood nearby.

Judge Sibley Celebrates Golden Wedding in Marietta

Judge Sibley and his wife marked their golden wedding anniversary in Marietta on Monday. Married in Racing in 1858, they have taken a honey-money trip most years. Sibley, formerly on the circuit bench, now serves on the state codifying commission based in Columbus. He remains in good health after a residence in Libby prison for 18 months and wartime illness. Mrs. Sibley was Miss Ellia Withersin.

Chillicothe reports William Eyth former city clerk attempted suicide by self inflicted throat wound near Raingbora High and county last Monday. He lay six days without food or drink in the woods. Discovered Sunday night he was brought to the city. He had lost his position and became despondent after treatment in Pittsburg. He wandered toward Hillsboro seeking work and lay in the woods to die. It is believed he will recover.

Poughkeepsie April 21 The first step toward the release of Harry K Thaw from the Matteawan Asylum for the Insane was taken today James G Graham of Newbury Thaws counsel made application to Justice Moraghuso or at White Plains for an order directing the superintendent to permit Thaw to sign a formal application for a writ of habeas corpus The order was granted and when Thaw has made the application he will probably be brought before a justice for a hearing to determine whether or not he is sane
