Fire destroys 27 airplanes at Chicago Municipal Airport
At Chicago Municipal airport early today two hangars and 27 airplanes were burned, including 12 tri motored passenger planes. Loss exceeds 2 million dollars. The Universal Air Line Inc. and Grey Goose AirLing hangars burned after an undetermined explosion. Several workers escaped as flames overtook the rear of the Universal hangar.

Waterways Bill Given Approval

Harbor Grace N F June 25 The Southern Cross flyers plan a flight to New York then San Francisco completing a round the world trip. Capt Charles Kingsford Smith Everett Van Dyk Patrick Saul and John W Stannage were in good spirits after landing and spoke of future plans contingent on a safe landing. The team may skip New York or refuel there before proceeding to San Francisco.

Water bill delinquents warned to avoid extra charges
On June 1 water takers in arrears are warned that unpaid bills will trigger service shutoff and a $1 charge when service resumes. Fifteen days after date all unpaid bills become tax liens on property. A list of delinquents will be treated as unpaid taxes. Pay this week per order of the Board of Water Commissioners.

Special session to consider naval treaty in June

Southern Cross Reaches Harbor Grace After Atlantic Flight
Four aviators land at Harbor Grace Newfoundland after a hazardous blind-crossing voyage from Ireland. The Southern Cross refueled for about four hours of flying time and guided by radio and a search plane, landed safely at 9 57 a.m. They praised radio guidance and planned to press on to New York despite not reaching their original goal.
