Schlee and Brock Set New Transcontinental Record

Navigators Edward F. Schlee and Willem A. Brock completed a Jacksonville to San Diego flight in 13 hours 55 minutes 30 seconds, setting a westbound record for the 2100 mile crossing at an average speed of 152 mph. In Toledo on June 18 coroner ruled John Liptack died from exposure not drowning after eight men vanished during an Elks Lodge picnic. A speed boat was later found upright in Lake Erie with eight aboard and only three life preservers aboard.
