Washington notes show lawmakers preparing for a potential November special session to push rail wage and policy changes. Reports cite rail labor tensions, RFC loan restrictions, and political maneuvering around post election actions.
Fred P. MacDonald was recaptured on the Greenland road outside the city and ordered held for observation at Concord state hospital. Justice A J Connor and Sheriff Frink arranged the commitment, as MacDonald faced a tightened search and a thwarted attempted escape near the area watched by county officials.
Thomas A Shupe a Portsmouth Fruit and Produce Co driver was at the Hayes farm crossing when Boston and Maine passenger No 25 struck his truck. He was thrown from the cab but walked away as onlookers gathered on the highway and near the private crossing.
Maine officials led by Attorney General Franz Burkett backed Frank E. Bradbury's account of his sister Harriet's death and disposal of her body in a furnace. Police and prosecutors found no signs of foul play at the Bradbury home, with further tests planned by state pathologist Dr Arch Morrell on material from the furnace and chair. Bradbury, jailed on a charge of disposing of a body without a permit, has an attorney and awaits the Superior Court proceeding.
Beginning next week a Boston and Maine train No 22 will run from Portsmouth at 2 52 a m over the Dover and western route to Boston. The service, once part of the Pullman schedule, has shifted routes since old Eastern Railroad days and once carried Maine and Canadian passengers. Dr Louis Perry of Exeter was elected president of the Thomas Bailey Aldrich Memorial Association at its annual meeting held in town. The house on Court Street will open today for the summer season. Other officers include vice president William W Howells of Kittery Point, treasurer Dr Wallace Walker of Rye Beach, and secretary Bry Wallace Walker of Rye Beach.
The trio Harold Beland 18 his wife Hathlean Royle Beland 17 and ei Wr 17 all of New guilty of vagrancy are sentenced to 20 days in jail. McDowell said Beland admitted escaping from an incident in Manchester last Jan 28. They travel through Massachusetts New York and the Carolinas burglaries to fund their journey. In Tennessee the trio claimed they planned to reach Mexico but returned home. They were arrested near Dusenesburg when Officer Burley found Forrest driving with a suspended license.

Amanoud and Charles Geofman of Haverhill Massachusetts were fined 25 dollars and costs each before Judge George A. Gemore in Epping Municipal Court after pleading guilty to promoting and owning gambling machines three machines are now in Rockingham County custody. The respondents also pleaded guilty to two other charges continued for sentence. Investigation began amid claims they placed machines in stores and garages posing as county and town officials fixed. They were arrested by Deputy Judicial as they collected money from a machine in an Epping garage.
Washington June 14 The adjournment of Congress is delayed by last minute disagreements over spending, lending, an emergency appropriation measure and farm benefits. Lawmakers, optimistic to wind up the session, work to end the five and a half months before nightfall. President Roosevelt remains to act on loan measures before departing for the wedding of his son in Massachusetts.
The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court elevated Boston’s Janie’ 16 to chief justice to fill the vacancy created by the death of Chief Justice Arthur P. Rugg. Gov. Charlee Hurley submitted the appointment to the executive council after conferring with court members.
