Serious Plane Crash Near Boston Airport Claims One Life
An Associated Press report states a New York passenger transport plane crashed into the water off the Boston Airport shortly after noon. One person was probably fatally injured and 11 others suffered minor injuries. Rescue crews including Coast Guard, a fireboat, and guardsmen rushed to the scene. passenger list includes J Gillispie Boston and several New York City, Boston, Cambridge, Rochester residents. The cause of the crash was not yet determined.

Flyers Direct Fire Fighting in Northwest Ontario
Port Arthur Ontario June 5 three scouting planes directed movements of a small army of fire fighters sent into forests northwest of here to subdue weeks long fires. Forestry officials use rains to locate and extinguish remote fires before danger returns. Heavy rains east of Port Arthur eased danger but west of here no rainfall. Officials know locations of worst fires but planes will locate others. More than 25 families of homesteaders have been made homeless with loss of farm buildings and livestock.

Fire destroys summer home at New Castle
The Turner House, a costly property in New Castle owned by Hotel Wentworth Company, burned this forenoon during remodeling for Harry Beck. The cause is unknown, flames engulfed the upper floor near the roof as Portsmouth firemen supplied water from 2600 feet of hose. Only the Dodd cottage suffered minor roof damage while other nearby structures were saved. Beckwith anticipated moving in within days as repairs continued.

Fire destroys St. Andrews business section and homes
A huge fire in St. Andrews wipes out four stores in the town’s core including the historic Coffee House brought by Loyalists in 1778, plus fifteen homes and two other buildings.
