Two More Arrests In Curran Death

Two additional arrests followed the Curran gangland slaying in Boston. Timothy Coffey and Richard O’Connor were seized in Andrews Square by gunpoint, booked on suspicion of knowing the death circumstances. Four others, including John Falvey Harold Daley and Henry Cogan, are being held as accessories.

New England Business Rise Beats Seasonal Activity

The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston reported April saw an above seasonal rise in New England business activity. Cotton usage rose to 3,177 bales in April from March and last year, wool usage also increased, and boot and shoe production declined less than usual. Employment and wages climbed in shoe plants while auto registrations and retail store sales lagged year over year.

Five Amherst students arrested over flag incident

Five Amherst College freshmen were arrested by state police for mutating a U S flag during a campus Communist meeting. Two freshmen were suspended, said Dean Porter, with two others injured in the ensuing scuffle as a larger group disrupted the dormitory gathering.
