Mrs Walter Gardnar, wife of a lumber dealer, killed her three sleeping children Edith 11 Nathaniel 11 and Walter Jr 10 months with a razor and then took her own life in their Springfield home. Gardnar and infant survived briefly as he summoned help. all died at the hospital. The couple had recently faced nervous trouble and despondency since the birth of their last child. Bodies found by the husband after the murder attempt.

By Associated Press Rentham Mass June 1 three people from Hopkinton died in an early automobile crash on a bypass of the Boston Providence road. Arthur Desmond 25 driver of the passenger car and Edward J O Connolly 31 were killed instantly when Desmonds car struck the rear of a truck. Minnie Pine 22 died later at Norwood hospital.
