Gas royalties dispute over Texas state lands and gas sales
Land Commissioner Bob Armstrong says claims of cheap gas from state lands are misleading. He notes Texas lands produce 80 million cubic feet daily, with 40 million in interstate royalty gas, much of which interstate pipelines would not accept without Federal Power Commission approval. Armstrong cites settlements that net Texas about 37 million dollars yearly and says new royalty gas rarely enters interstate commerce.
