Women in revolution Really liberated

Women aided the Revolutionary Army with foraging nursing and even combat roles often under disguise. Deborah Sampson enlisted as Timothy Thayer to receive rations and fought at Tarrytown before earning an Army pension. Betsy Ross and Molly Pitcher figures symbolize broader women’s work, though legends may obscure many unseen contributors.

A reader and others offer household quirks and tips from long running routines. Suggestions include not hanging towels on racks, not turning off lights when leaving a room, saving cookware from burning with marbles, a baby night light aquarium idea, and a tuna sandwich fix by pre chopping lettuce and tomato to keep it intact.
