Judge Rules for Newton in Railroad Commissioner Bid
In Austin Judge Herman Jones denied Jerry Sadler’s bid to block Jon Newton from the November ballot. Newton, who beat Sadler in a Democratic runoff, argued a 1968 constitutional amendment allows a brief overlap between taking office and the pay increase voted in 1975. Sadler plans an appeal.
