Game Bird Packages Still Ship In State Without Inspection
At the Texas Game Bird Conference Dr. David Mellor said in-state processing and shipping of game birds can continue without government inspection but federal bills could change this. He noted a Senate passed rabbit inspection bill moving to the House and a California congressman proposal to expand inspection to pigeon squab and pheasant. The department of agriculture seeks to swap quail for squad in the bill, potentially mandating federal inspection for these birds.
