Death ruled natural for South Padre Island man
Justice of the Peace Bud Emmons ordered a post mortem after Ronald Van McKee 44 was found dead at his home off Park Road 100. Pathologists at Valley Baptist Hospital Harlingen reported the death from a liver ailment. Services set for Friday at Thomas Chapel with Rev. Charles Robinson Jr. officiating. Survivors include brother Don McKee Kansas City Kansas and son Kevin McKee California.

Two Drownings Reported at South Padre Island
Two drownings occurred at South Padre over the weekend. Eloy Mancha, 13, of East Hazelcrest Illinois, visiting relatives in the McAllen Edinburg area, was found first. Rene Francisco Silva Flores, 21, of Reynosa, was found after a Sunday morning disappearance. Both bodies were taken to Thomas Funeral Directors in San Benito.

Dan Reyna says he will drop his appeal and seek mercy of the court after a June 13 conviction with a one year sentence and $1000 fine on three counts. He plans to cancel his pauper’s petition for government help in a Houston hearing with Senator Jim Bates as his friend of the family. Reyna repaid about 150 dollars and claims only poor records were his fault. The Cameron County Board of Health sought expanded authority to review health efforts and remove overlaps to improve efficiency and prevent fraud.
