Mary Lou Zamora and Robert Caraveo wed in a Catholic ceremony at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church officiated by Rev. Father Lawrence Penning. The couple, of Port Isabel and nearby communities, planned a reception at Firemen's Hall and a dance at the Pavilion on South Padre Island with about 500 guests.

The Altar Society held its regular meeting at Mrs. Walter Kirkennell’s home. President Tina Barrera led opening prayers, reviewed minutes and treasurer’s report by Mrs. Everett Sagnes, and assigned June work sheets for Lucky Games and sanctuary cleaning.
