Navy fireman Richard O. Wood, son of Mr and Mrs Oran B Wood of Laguna Vista, took part aboard the USS John F Kennedy in Dawn Patrol with NATO forces in the Mediterranean. Marine PFC Cayetano Nunez, son of Mr and Mrs Cesario Nunez of Port Isabel, was promoted while serving with the Marine Detachment at Guantanamo Bay Cuba.

Firm To Start Highway Project In Cameron Hidalgo Counties
The Texas Highway Department announces a new construction project in Cameron and Hidalgo Counties. Nine miles of additional surfacing are planned on Spur 415 and FM 506 in Cameron County and on FM 491 FM 493 FM 495 and Spur 433 in Hidalgo County. Ballenger Construction Company of San Benito is the contractor.
