Funeral Services Held For Two Crash Victims
Funeral services were held in Port Isabel for Mrs. Concepcion N. Gabourel 32 and Miss Altagracia Gonzalez 27 fatally injured in a near head on crash east of Brownsville on Farm Road 1792. Gonzalez was buried at Port Isabel Cemetery and Gabourel at the same cemetery with services by Delta Funeral Home and Joe A Besteiro Funeral Chapel.

Helicopter Rides Planned for Padre Island Fourth Fest
Helicopter rides are added to Fourth of July weekend events on Padre Island. Three Harlingen men receive a 30 day concession to convert a kiddie ride area into a temporary heliport, operating two helicopters for hour long tours. An sunset fireworks show 2000 feet north of Queen Isabella Causeway will follow and is backed by local chambers and the park board. Local Man Injured In Motor Scooter Mishap
Laura Ochoa a 33 year old Madison Street resident was slightly injured when his motor scooter skidded off Farm Road 179 in Brownsville Monday afternoon. He received scrapes and bruises and was treated at Mercy Hospital and released.
