The ship deployed in June 1968 and completed a 90000 mile round the world cruise. An overhaul at Philadelphia Naval Shipyard will follow with crew leave opportunities.

Swing Barge Job Under Way at Port Isabel
The Texas Highway Department began repair work on the leveling ramps of the swing barge over the Intracoastal Waterway at Port Isabel on February 13. The project is estimated to take 100 days. One lane will stay open, with a flagman as needed, and drivers are urged to use extreme care in the area.

A Golden Gloves Regional Tournament will be held Friday and Saturday at the Wrestlethon Auditorium Harlingen under sponsorship of the Harlingen Jaycees. Proceeds go to the Harlingen Boys Club.
