Pomeroy Weekly Telegraph in Pomeroy, Ohio

Wit and whimsy fill a bustling old print page

A long miscellany of humorous vignettes, dialog snippets, and moral musings. It compiles jokes about language, a Boston gutter scene, Irish servant banter, dramatic domestic scenes, a blood pill tale, dialect humor, a Democratic confession, reflections on character and youth, and a recipe note for aging vinegar. Many named figures and places appear in brisk, period tone.
