The Polk community is invited to a dedication service at the Polk Evangelical Free Church on Sunday September 30 at 11 00 A M. Renovations include new pews tile and carpet costing about 3000 pledged by the congregation through an Improvement Committee. Rev Donald Leff Midwest District Superintendent will deliver the dedication address. Rev William Pinkernell has served since November 1961.

Polk Horse Show Draws Crowd at Sunday Events
The postponed Polk Horse Show was held Sunday afternoon on school grounds east of the high school with about 40 riders and horses. The Howard Russell family won the largest share of prizes across events, including adult barrel races and team performances, while many children received prizes funded by the Polk Commercial Club and adult prizes funded by a 50 cent entry fee per event.

The Rev. M. E. Gruett of Immanuel Lutheran Church has accepted a call to Berea Lutheran Church in Milwaukee Wisconsin. He has led Immanuel since January 1958 and will lead a new mission church about four years old. He has chaired York Seward pastors and advised Lutheran organizations including the Walther League and Lutheran Laymen’s League. He attended the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod convention in Cleveland Ohio as a delegate. Gruett and his family depart October 1.

Hulda Amelia Gestrine born April 5 1874 in Sweden died September 20 1962 at her home near Clarks Nebraska aged 88 years 5 months and 15 days. She was baptized confirmed in Sweden and later a member of Calvary Lutheran Swede Home Church. She immigrated to the United States in 1892 and lived in Polk County. She married John Gestrine on June 19 1894 and they had 13 children. Continued on page 4.
