Fishing Pond Planned Between Louisville and Platte River
The state game and park board approved purchase of a 90 acre tract between Louisville and the Platte River for public fishing. Located on eight sandpit lakes totaling 65 acres, the site will be bought for about 4500 dollars at 50 dollars per acre from Lyman- Richey Sand Co of Omaha. The ponds, formed by sand and gravel removal, vary in depth from three or four feet to thirty feet and will be stocked from state hatcheries with a caretaker in summer. Trees will be planted and shores grassed to improve recreation similar to a nearby Fremont lake complex.

Dedication of Old Trail Marker at Deepwell Well Site
In a ceremony with officers of patriotic organizations the Nebraska Historical Society and many Hamilton County residents dedicated the first marker of the old Nebraska City Fort Kearney cut off trail. The stone replica marks the Deepwell ranch well, a renowned relay station from about six decades ago, with a stone curb and cement bucket.
