Bradley Johnson Fund Initiated In North Bend

Ralph Wilshusen of North Bend left a $15.00 donation with the Polk Progress to start the Bradley Johnson Fund for Bradley son of Mr and Mrs Gwynuel Johnson. He has been in Lincoln General Hospital three weeks after brain tumor surgery with complications. Donations may be made at Citizens State Bank or the Progress office.

Polk Schools Report Higher Male Enrollment Across Grades

Polk schools show more boys than girls across most grades. High school data lists 56 boys this year, while early grades reveal mixed counts with notable male majorities in 5th and 6th grades. Four sets of twins are noted: Thompson, Creech, Chambers, and Adelson.

Werth and Verdsted marry in Seward church ceremony

Mrs Ila Mae Werth and Larry Verdsted of Lincoln wed at Faith Lutheran Seward on Sunday evening Sept 4 at 6 30 pm. Reception at Dale's Steak House Seward hosted about 45 relatives and friends. Polk County Attends Five County Democratic Picnic

About 30 Polk County residents joined 250 attendees from York Hamilton Seward Fillmore and Polk counties at the T. R. McCarthy farm west of York for a Sunday evening Democratic Picnic. Speakers included Gov. Morrison Lt. Gov. Sorensen Congressman Callan and State Senator Rasmussen.

Obituary of Carl A. Wilshusen 80 York farmer

Carl A. Wilshusen 80 of York died Aug 31 at York General Hospital after two weeks admission. Born June 9 1886 in Polk County he was a Polk County farmer until 1945 retired to York and served in church work at Emmanuel Lutheran York. Surviving widow Lydia Blase a son Elmer three daughters and other relatives. Funeral at Emmanuel Lutheran York with burial at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery Polk.

A Lincoln social security representative will visit Osceola on September 12 on the second floor of the courthouse from 9 A M to 12 noon. The notice also states that child benefits under social security no longer stop at 18 if the child remains a full time student.
