Smith To Head Empire State Building Co

New York Arg. Smith announces he will head a company to direct the largest building in the world, an 80 story skyscraper on the site of the Waldorf Astoria. The Empire State Building will rise nearly 1000 feet, about 200 feet taller than any Manhattan structure, to be completed in 18 months at an estimated cost of 60 million dollars, housing sixty thousand people at once.

Treat All Seed Wheat to Fight Smut Loss In Nebraska

Farmers in Nebraska lose over a million dollars yearly due to smut in seed wheat and reduced yields. Treating all seed with copper carbonate dust formaldehyde or mercuric chloride is inexpensive and effective. Extension Circular No. 132 from the University of Nebraska provides complete instructions. The report notes high smut rates in Omaha wheat shipments from 1925 to 1928 and urges a community-wide treatment effort to prevent losses.
