Farm And Ranch Short Course Opens On University Campus

The County Agent reports a winter short course for farm and ranch operators at the university campus. It offers eight weeks of classes six hours daily plus weekly field trips in Animal Husbandry, Crop and Soils, Agricultural Economics, Ranch Management, and related subjects. Scholarships of 100 total are available from Ak Sar Ben Foundation, GI Bill benefits apply, enrollment limited to first come first served with deadlines November 29 1968 or February 7 1969.

Linda Stromberg and David Kraxberger Wed in Fort Collins

Linda Stromberg and David Kraxberger married September 6 at Westminster Presbyterian Church Fort Collins. The bride wore a Victorian style white satin gown. Bridesmaids were the bride’s sisters Vicki Jo and Connie Stromberg. Best man was Larry Kraxberger. groomsmen Ron Mock and Glen Cartwright. The couple, after a trip to San Francisco and Canada, reside in Fort Collins. Linda is a Fort Collins High School graduate and has worked for Garwood Jewelry Continental Airlines Hostess and Edgerton Travel. David is a 1965 Fort Collins High School graduate and works for Everitt Lumber while attending Colorado State University.

Freeman Says Farmers Can Raise Grain Prices Quickly

Secretary Orville Freeman states farmers can balance grain supply with demand and raise prices by expanding use of price support tools. He notes 500 million bushels are held off market under loan and inventory, evidence of varied farmer use of the program and its impact on wheat prices. The report also covers LWML meeting notes and Sergeant Rex L. Nissen earning the USAF Outstanding Unit Award for the 3rd Air Division.

NFO President Staley Reports at September Meeting

At the NFO gathering in Stromsburg Viking Center National President Oren Lee Staley presented a taped report on his hearings before Republican and Democratic platform committees. He said both parties neglect small family farms and that agricultural advisors favor corporate farming. He urged stronger effort on collective bargaining.
