Mrs Marvin Ang of Rockford Sr a missionary to South America will be guest speaker at the District WMS meeting at the Evangelical Free Church Tuesday afternoon. Nearby, Mr and Mrs Wallace Sandell visited the Lem Johnsons in Aurora Sunday evening.
Mrs John B. Myers will be 90 years old on October 18. She has resided in Polk since April 1910 after moving from Ohio with her family. She stays busy with cooking baking and canning and has made about 500 handmade rugs. She reads without glasses and follows local and national events.
Mr and Mrs Kenneth Meerkatz announce the birth of twin daughters Amy Jo and Angee Kay on September 30 at York General Hospital. Amy Jo weighed 6 pounds 6 ounces and Angee Kay 4 pounds 14 ounces.
Parents in Omaha and Silver Creek report newborn daughters Tricia Lee, Kendra Sue, Christine Jo, and Laurel Lynn with birth weights from 6 lb 11 oz to 8 lb 3 oz. Additional birth: Lonnie Wayne to Rev and Mrs Richard Trotter in Miller South Dakota. Grandparents named. visitors share in a Grand Island gathering.
Cubs lose 13-6 at Palmer as Lee Doncheske breaks for 87 yards for Palmer and Roger Carlstrom and Robbie Glasser spark Cubs scoring attempts. Cubs travel to Henderson Friday seeking their first win.
Dudley Baack wins last week's contest with a near perfect guess 12 6 tie breaker for the Palmer Polk game. Mrs Carlstrom also erred but expected higher scoring. Progress will skip Polk game picks for remaining contests. Local fans and football squad members are reluctant to call Polk a loser.
The Stromsburg American Legion and Auxiliary invite Polk community members to Stromsburg High School gym at 10 30 am on October 25 1971 for a Veterans Day program. Featured speaker is Frank I Viasak Senior Vice Commander American Legion Dept of Neb from North Bend Neb. Local Legion Post and Aux units urged to attend and represent.
